Update Thursday 5 September: rain will not stop play!
If it rains this evening, the Leconfield Hall and the Star Inn, both on Market Square, will offer shelter.
You may bring food from any of the food vendors to the Leconfield Hall. Plates and cutlery are available.
---- oOo ---
For just one evening, a 'flash mob' of old cars takes over the centre of the historic town of Petworth.
On the evening of Petworth Historic, all the parking spaces in Market Square are reserved purely for old vehicles. It is a small town centre largely unaltered over the last century.
(Old means pre-1967: Goodwood Motor Circuit closed to competitive racing in August 1966.)
There are a limited number of parking spaces in Market Square, so when it is full, cars will be asked to park in pretty side streets and/or in the public car park just off the Square. The idea is to fill up the whole town with old cars!
The event is free and intended to be kept informal, but we ask that people attending with old cars register here so that we can have an idea of numbers to expect. No need to register if you're just coming in a modern car or on foot to look and chat.
We require some "marshalling" and other assistance from volunteers. If you would be prepared to help, please contact us here.
